Do’s and Don’ts and Dinner: How to Present Your Best Self at an Academic Interview

Do’s and Don’ts and Dinner: How to Present Your Best Self at an Academic Interview  will be at BTSU on Thursday, February 21st from 5pm - 7pm. This event would be open to doctoral students. Featured panelists will present information such as how a candidate should conduct themselves during the academic job interview process particularly during a meal whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, what to expect during an academic job interview, and what not to do during an interview, etc.

The Multicultural Initiative for Graduate Student Success (MIGSS), a program within the Graduate College, will conduct a Do’s and Don’ts and Dinner: How to Present Your Best Self at an Academic Interview. We will have panelists who have been on search committees as interviewers and who also have been candidates in the academic field themselves. Such topics of discussion will be: 

  • Academic job interviews during a meal (Dinner will be served. There will be a vegetarian option.)
  • Expectations during the interview process
  • What to do and what not to do during the interview process

In order to participate, you must:

  • Be a doctoral student from any discipline at BGSU
  • Wear professional attire as if you were being interviewed
  • Register and pay $5 by 5:00pm on Monday, February 11th, 2019 
  • Limited spaces available
