EDTL 2010:  Introduction to Education

Introduction to educational foundation topics and contemporary issues for prospective teachers.  Explore and analyze the teaching profession in a weekly seminar and a service learning experience.  Required as an entry-year experience for all teacher-education candidates.  Field Experience Hours: 30

EDTL 2020:  Teaching Adolescents

This course offers focused exploration of teaching adolescents in the middle and high school grades.  Topics include middle school history, philosophy, and goals; adolescent development; developmentally responsive curriculum; instruction and assessment strategies; impact of diversity on teaching and learning; approaches to organizing classrooms and managing students.  Field Experience Hours: 30.  More info

EDTL 250X:  Introduction to Teaching Middle Grades Science, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies

An overview of teaching specific subject-matter in grades 4-9.  Topics include the nature of the discipline, an introduction to curriculum standards, inquiry-based learning, lesson planning fundamentals, and instructional resources.  Field Experience Hours: 30. More info

EDTL 27X0:  Introduction to Teaching Secondary Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies

EDIS 3100:  Second Year Field Experience

Introduction to breadth and depth of the field of special education, professional and consumer organizations, professional opportunities. Spend extended time with persons with exceptionalities in different settings.  Field Experience Hours: 100.  More info

EDIS 4100:  Third Year Field Experience

Maintaining healthy environments and using technology and classroom resources. Experience in special education classrooms.  Field Experience Hours: 100.  More info

EDFI 2990:  Field Experience in Cultural and Community Contexts

Seminar and practicum focusing on culture and community in learning. Provides teacher candidates with supervised practicum in schools or community agencies.  Field Experience Hours: 25-30.  More info

EDFI 4200:  Practicum in Individual and Small Group Instruction

Supervised practicum experiences involving individual and small group instruction of students in grades K-12 conducted in area schools and other university/community settings. Field Experience Hours: 14.  More info
