Superintendent Licensure and District Leadership Certificate
For educators who already possess ODE principal licensure and want to pursue superintendent licensure, BGSU’s superintendent licensure program meets that need. The superintendent licensure program provides the five core courses (15 semester hours) required for ODE licensure as a superintendent.

A Different Option
Our Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership is an advanced degree program for students wishing to pursue an advanced degree beyond a Master’s Degree. Our Ed.S. Degree in Educational Leadership requires 30 semester hours (just 6 semester hours beyond the principal licensure coursework). It is an excellent way to move to the Master’s plus 30 column typical of many salary schedules. Students have six years to complete the degree. For more information, click below.
What do our students say?
“When I accepted my first assignment as a local school superintendent in 2011, I felt very well prepared for the challenges of the position. Without question, Bowling Green State University played a very important role in my preparation.”
