The specialization in Sport Administration addresses the planning, organizational, leadership, and evaluative aspects of management within the sport enterprises by holding the institution of sport to a high level of inquiry and serious scientific scrutiny. Students work with their advisors to complete a series of courses in the sport administration program and in a variety of other disciplines related to their academic interests and goals, and this includes: business administration, marketing, mass communication, higher education administration, interpersonal communication, and psychosocial foundations of sport. All students in sport administration complete a culminating experience: thesis, project, or comprehensive exam. Students work closely with their advisor in developing a focus of study, selecting courses, and deciding whether to complete a thesis or master's project. The program is planned over two continuous years of study. Bowling Green State University has received specialized accreditation for its sport management program through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Here at BGSU, both our undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), a specialized accrediting body that promotes and recognizes excellence in sport management education in colleges at the baccalaureate and graduate levels.
