What was your favorite experience at BGSU?
My favorite experience at BGSU was leading group fitness, or back then "aerobics", classes at the rec center. Over the span of five years, I lead fitness classes for hundreds of BG students. When I was a student, I taught aerobics because I had so much fun and made a some money. Now, I have a better understanding of the role I played in the health and wellbeing of those students. I also thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities I had during my graduate assistantship with BGSU Recreational Sports to develop large scale wellness programs and to spearhead our departmental hiring process. I would be remiss if I didn't mention my Falcon flame, Chris! Chris and I met in HMSLS graduate school and have been married for 19 years.
Why should potential students come to the HMSLS?
The academic classes and hands on learning opportunities I experienced in HMSLS set me up for success in the career path I wanted to take. From top-notch professors to practicums and internships and involvement in state and national organizations, I received a very well-rounded education. During my first full time job in campus recreation at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, my supervisor told me that one of the reasons I was a top candidate was because I earned my degree from Bowling Green State University.
