Mission Statement
The Mission of the Bowling Green State University Spirit Program is to serve as public relations ambassadors of intercollegiate athletics and Bowling Green State University; to uphold, reflect and project the goals and ideals of the University; to inspire fans through spirit, leadership and character; to strive to be the best individual, team and Falcon possible.

BGSU Cheerleading competes at UCA College Nationals in Orlando Florida every year and has ranked in the top 5 of the Nation for the past 7 years!  Here are some of our most recent accomplishments:

  • 2017—UCA Small Coed Bronze medalist
  • 2016—UCA All-Girl Tenth Place
  • 2015—UCA Small Coed Bronze medalist
  • 2014—UCA Small Coed National Champion
  • 2013—STUNT championships Bronze Medalist
  • Practice 4 days a week
  • Team workouts twice a week
  • Four hours of study tables a week
  • Cheer at all BGSU football games and all home men's and women's basketball games
  • When selected, travel to Bowl Games, MAC Tournaments, and NCAA Tournaments.


The cheerleading squads are fullly funded by BGSU.  Cheerleaders have priority registration to help with scheduling which allows them to schedule their classes a week in advance, compared to all the other students on campus.  They have access to the athletic doctors and have trainers assigned to them for treatment before and after practices.


Program Information

Tryouts for the 2018-2019 season will be held on April 20th-21st in Eppler Center Gym.  The minimum requirement to tryout is a standing back tuck.  Tryouts consist of; tumbling (standing and running), stunting (All-Girl and Coed), performance of our fight song, an in person interview with the current coaching staff and alumni, and a fitness evaluation.

BGSU offers an enormous amount of scholarships.  If you meet one of these requirements, you are often eligible for a large amount of scholarship opportunities.

High School GPA of 3.0 or better

24 ACT score or higher

Have a sibling/parent that went to BGSU or is currently attending BGSU.
BGSU also has one of the lowest tuition rates in Ohio.  Below are the prices for tuition +room/board for a few Ohio universities.

BGSU - $19,850            Akron - $19,786                            University of Toledo - $33,414

Ohio State - $21,703     University of Cincinnati - $21,496    Kent State - $19,920
