Get Involved Team

The Get Involved Team (GIT) works with the Office of Campus Activities to encourage and promote student engagement at Bowling Green State University. The team aids the office in its mission to connect students and families to meaningful experiences. In all, our Involvement Ambassadors are dedicated to showing prospective, newly admitted, or current students the importance of involvement and how it can empower them to reach their fullest potential.

The team works to:
  • Serve as primary point-of-contact for office visitors and communicate with students, parents/family members, alumni, friends of the University, and campus constituents.  Interactions will include:
    • Being competently skilled in computer usage (e.g., Word processing, appointment scheduling, spreadsheet and database management);
    • Answering and directing telephone calls and emails;
    • Thoroughly understanding and communicating policies and procedures;
    • Assisting student organization members with questions concerning BGSU’s online community (i.e., OrgSync);
    • Promoting campus programs and opportunities to student organizations and individuals; and
    • Supporting initiatives to create a stronger campus community (i.e., foster a spirit of school pride and advocate for celebrating the unique cultures of all BGSU students and the Core Values).
  • Serve as an ambassador for the OCA at Admissions Events and major campus programs (i.e., Campus Fest).
  • Identify involvement opportunities best suited for particular students' needs or interests and make appropriate referrals.

Are you interested in getting involved, but not sure where to begin? Sign up today for an Individual Involvement Consultation (IIC). Our IICs are the perfect way to meet one-on-one with one of our team members to learn more about involvement opportunities at BGSU!

  • Getting involved on campus has made the difference in BGSU being a four year stop to becoming my home away from home. My involvements have given me opportunities to build relationships, develop new skills, discover my values and set goals for myself to become the person I want to be in the world

  • Being involved in activities has literally saved my life. I started marching band in high school and don't know if I'd be here today without it. It sparked a light inside of me and now I love being involved in everything!

  • Involvement is important because it helps connect students to their campus and can expand their horizon. I joined the Get Involved Team because I wanted to be able to connect my peers to the wonderful organizations that we have, and help them feel at home. Being in organizations with people who share similar interests with you can be very beneficial in the long run, especially when it comes to networking.

  • Involvement is important because it is where lifelong friends are made and unforgettable experiences happen. My involvement on campus has helped me strive in my educational career, develop interpersonal skills and, most importantly, create a fun atmosphere that I can share with others.
