Enhanced Cleaning Protocols

The Campus Operations Custodial staff is committed to meeting the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to contribute to the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors. We are using a new line of cleaning supplies along with technologies such as electrostatic cleaning and autonomous vacuums to make our campus as clean as possible.

Additional cleaning during COVID-19

In addition to the university’s standard cleaning practices, a team of highly trained Campus Operations personnel will be deployed to rotate through buildings to perform “enhanced cleaning.” This includes:

  • Frequently cleaning high touch points such as door knobs, push bars, railings, elevator buttons, etc.;
  • Areas will be thoroughly cleaned, first using disinfectant, with electrostatic spraying units used to clean commonly used spaces daily; and
  • Additional hand sanitizer stations throughout campus, located at building entrances and elevator lobbies.

Employees

In the event an employee is not comfortable with Campus Operations entering their personal space to clean, a door knob or cubical hang tag will be provided. Employees occupying these spaces will be provided with disinfectant and are expected to clean and maintain their space. If a “Please do not clean” tag is used and trash needs to be removed, the employee occupying the space will place the container outside the door and Campus Operations personnel will remove the waste and replace the liner. If maintenance is requested or required, Campus Operations maintenance and trades personnel will knock and announce themselves prior to entering the space.

Students:  To further support keeping our campus safe, please practice the following:

  • Wash hands with soap and water on a regular basis. If you do not have access to water, utilize hand sanitizer.
  • Clean inside residence hall rooms and high touchpoints like door handles and light switches multiple times a week in accordance with the CDC-recommended cleaning procedures and products.
  • Spray disinfectant into paper towels or cloths, not directly on equipment or surfaces. Spray away from face and avoid eyes.
  • Cleaning products will be provided in classrooms, labs, dining halls, residence halls, and meeting rooms so students can do their part to prevent surface transmission of pathogens. When utilizing these spaces, please use the supplies to disinfect before and after each use.

Visitors:

  • Wash hands with soap and water on a regular basis. If you do not have access to water, utilize hand sanitizer.
  • Hand sanitizer will be located in areas throughout campus.

Our new protocols include increased frequency of cleaning to keep everyone as safe as possible and we are providing these frequency charts for your information and peace of mind.
