The Rogers Report

As August begins, we are preparing for the beginning of fall semester and the arrival of our students. All over campus, faculty and staff have been working this summer to improve our facilities and grounds, implement enhancements to our outstanding academic and co-curricular programs and launch new offerings. The BGSU experience continues to transform, and we're excited to greet the Class of 2023 and re-engage with our returning students. Another great academic year is ahead of us!

Enjoy some of my favorite stories and highlights from this past month!

Regards,

Rodney K. Rogers, Ph.D. '81

Touring the Maurer Center, the new home of the College of Business

Touring the Maurer Center, the new home of the College of Business
Construction and renovation for the Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center is underway! Because of the leading transformational gift from Bob and Pat Maurer, this facility will meet the educational needs of our students, attract and retain world-class faculty, and ensure we are a leader in business education. The Maurer Center happens to be right by my office, and being a graduate of the MBA program and a former dean of the College of Business, seeing the progress every day has been especially exciting. I'm looking forward to the Maurer Center opening in fall 2020. Until then, a group of us got a behind-the-scenes tour!

BGSU Homecoming set for September 13-15

BGSU Homecoming set for September 13-15
We are less than two months away from Homecoming! Like commencement, it is one of my favorite occasions each year – an opportunity to celebrate everything BGSU with our Falcon Family. In addition to the football game and special events to recognize our alumni and donors, this year we're hosting new programs and activities to engage a broader alumni audience. Be sure to experience Falconland, an interactive tour of campus and all it has to offer! From our Marine Biology Lab to the Teaching Kitchen, our alumni and friends will have plenty to do. You'll even recognize a few sites from previous Rogers Report videos! I am looking forward to seeing you soon. Ay Ziggy Zoomba!

BGSU, Owens announce partnership benefiting nursing students

BGSU, Owens announce partnership benefiting nursing students
We are proud to work with Owens Community College on a new partnership that ensures nursing education continues to be a priority and we are supporting our students who are committed to serving Ohio and our nation. This academic pathway, an RN to BSN program, is completely online, moving health care knowledge forward and allowing students to begin working as registered nurses after Owens while furthering their education at BGSU.

Class of 2023 all agree: BGSU feels like a place where they belong

Class of 2023 all agree: BGSU feels like a place where they belong
The BGSU Class of 2023 will be the most academically prepared group of freshman students in the history of Bowling Green State University! We continue to have students from all corners of Ohio, as well as all 50 states and at least 70 countries. In the midst of orientation and summer preparation for the upcoming fall semester, we recently caught up with a group of students who are ready to be at BGSU – a learning community where our students belong, stand out and go far.

Ravichandran named resort and attraction management program director

Ravichandran named resort and attraction management program director
Dr. Swathi Ravichandran has been named director of Bowling Green State University's new resort and attraction management program, the only program of its kind in the country. This innovative public-private partnership with Cedar Fair LLP, an international leader in the resort and attraction industry, will help meet the needs of the trillion-dollar service industry. Together, we broke ground in Sandusky earlier this summer on a multipurpose facility being developed by Cedar Fair that will include learning spaces and apartment-style housing for students. Third- and fourth-year students receiving a bachelor's degree in resort and attraction management will take classes taught by BGSU faculty at the facility and will gain experience through internships and co-ops at Cedar Fair parks and attractions throughout the country.
