The Rogers Report

Commencement is upon us – on Saturday, 942 students will officially join the alumni ranks! This year, we will return to holding the summer ceremony on the University Hall lawn, the site of BGSU's first commencement. The students have been educated by faculty in rigorous and relevant academic programs that prepared them not only for the workforce, but more importantly, to achieve their dreams. I cannot wait to see what they accomplish next.

By the time I write to you next month, fall semester will have begun, the Class of 2022 will have moved in, and campus will be alive again. Though we are always productive in the summer, I am sure looking forward to having our students back on campus.

Enjoy some of my favorite stories and highlights from this past month!

Regards,

Rodney K. Rogers, Ph.D. '81
President
Bowling Green State University

Check out campus with our tour guides
In May, we launched a video series to accompany the Rogers Report. My goal is to highlight the various areas of campus that help make BGSU unique. First, we blew glass and created our very own Falcon and then we visited chemistry labs to learn about cutting-edge research with our faculty and their students. This month, I teamed up with our tour guides to highlight the campus scene. We even checked out some "behind the scenes" locations!

BGSU Homecoming set for October 12-14

BGSU Homecoming set for October 12-14
We are less than three months away from Homecoming! It is one of my favorite occasions each year – an opportunity to celebrate everything BGSU with our Falcon Family. In addition to the parade and football game, this year will be special as we break ground on the new College of Business building, the Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center, and host a Celebration of Philanthropy to recognize our alumni and donors for their support in helping us change lives for the world. I hope to see you back!

BGSU named an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University

BGSU named an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University
Bowling Green State University has been designated an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities. Our university is one of just 60 institutions in North America to receive this internationally recognized distinction, and the only public institution to do so without an engineering or medical school. This designation provides BGSU a great platform to showcase our commitment to the economic vitality of our region.

BGSU celebrates 50th anniversary of preparing global citizens in Austria, Spain

BGSU celebrates 50th anniversary of preparing global citizens in Austria, Spain
I recently traveled to Salzburg, Austria, to sign an agreement with the University of Salzburg to continue our study abroad partnership, which has given students a global perspective for the last 50 years. So many alumni and former faculty members returned to mark this anniversary, a testament to what a life-changing experience education abroad offers. Programs like these ensure our students have a world-class educational journey inside and out of the classroom.

Educating abroad: Falcon Flames live, teach in South Korea
Falcon Flames Emily and Jared Hatch have found a home in South Korea, more than 7,000 miles from Bowling Green. Emily works for the Department of Defense Education Activity, an arm of the United Nations. Both have intentionally immersed themselves in the local culture. No matter where you are around the globe, there are Falcons who are making a difference every day in their communities.
