We are less than a month away from the start of the 2017-18 academic year! This summer flew by, and we are eager for new and returning students to be on campus.

A Message from the President
The fall semester is underway! In addition to those returning, we moved in and welcomed the Class of 2021. To cap off the first week, I delivered the annual State of the University address. We have so much to be proud of at BGSU. View the full recording today.

We congratulated 958 graduates at the August commencement. Special thanks to our speaker, Brady Young '82, for sharing his message of grit and determination. In commencement tradition, some of our newest alumni shared their favorite "Falcon Moments" with us.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Center for the Future of Forensic Science on campus along with BGSU chemists announced research that will shape how first responders manage the opioid epidemic. This is an example of our successful partnership with the Ohio Attorney General on this critical issue facing society today.

We want our students to receive a world-class education, and we count on the support of alumni and friends to pay it forward. Every day, I see the impact our faculty, staff and retirees have beyond their professional jobs. Throughout the last fiscal year, our BGSU faculty, staff and retirees contributed $860,644 to change lives!

Football season begins Saturday when we take on Michigan State University in East Lansing. I hope you can return to the Doyt this season to cheer on the Falcons! Whether it’s for a class reunion, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sebo Center, or for Teacher Appreciation Day, there are many opportunities to reconnect with BGSU during football season. Check out the schedule for information on tickets today!

In less than two weeks, BGSU will celebrate Falcon Family Weekend. View the website to register for events. Planning continues for Homecoming, where we will publicly launch Changing Lives for the World: The Campaign for BGSU. Join me at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 13, in the newly renovated University Hall to celebrate our work to build a better future for our students. RSVP to Sarah Brokamp at 419-372-0352 or sbrokamp@bgsu.edu.

In 2009, the Office of Residence Life created the iconic photo highlighting our BGSU spirit at Offenhauer. Eight years later, right before move-in began, we recreated the same photo!
