This week's essential COVID-19 information from BGSU Chief Health Officer Ben Batey

In this week’s COVID-19 update, we are reporting a drop in cases, as compared to our last reporting period, outlined in the dashboard in this email and on our Forward Falcons website. While we continue to track and report positive COVID-19 cases with anyone affiliated with our campus community, we are now more spread out in our hometown communities and more cases will likely go unreported to us.
If you test positive for COVID-19, please self-report your results to our health@bgsu.edu email or our COVID-19 hotline 419-372-3000. Our contact tracers and COVID-19 team are continuing their work and can help you navigate next steps and answer any questions you have. Additionally, by reporting cases, we are able to better monitor trends and develop best practices for the spring semester.
Similar to the weeks leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, BGSU will resume rapid testing for our campus community in December with dates to be announced in coming days.
December is traditionally a busy month for social gatherings. Our actions now will impact the weeks ahead. As cases and hospitalizations continue to rise in our region, state and nation, it is increasingly important we each do our part to limit interactions with individuals outside of our household.
If you leave your home, wear a face covering, keep 6 feet of physical distance when interacting with others, practice good hand washing hygiene and, if you are feeling ill, even with a mild headache, congestion or sore throat, stay home and contact your health care provider or the Falcon Health Center for the most appropriate next steps.
Thank you for all you are doing to keep our communities as healthy and safe as possible.
Be well,
