1. FREE Group Exercise Classes: Thursday through Sept. 5

Join Falcon Fitness for the following free classes on Wednesday:

• Outdoor Yoga w/ Bryant, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m., Bowen-Thompson Quad Bring your own mat or towel

• Glow Yoga Flow w/ Bryant, 3:30 - 4 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center, Studio B

• Glow Xtreme Hip-Hop Step w/ Demetria, 4:30 - 5 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center, Studio B

Thursday – Sept. 5: Free Group Exercise Classes at the Student Recreation Center. Twenty fitness classes offered per week! View the full schedule.

2. Jerome Library starts fall hours

Fall hours for Jerome Library begins Thursday. Service points and collections have their own hours. For full library hours visit our website.

3. Tailgate Tent Pricing for Football Games Announced

The pricing structure for tailgate tents has been announced for Falcon Football games. In order to have a tent in Tailgate Park, fans must order from Toledo Tent and Party Rentals through Falcon Sports Properties.

4. Teaching Kitchen Class Thursday: Summertime Salsas

This week in the teaching kitchen, we have a meal that is perfect for you! On Thursday t 5:30 p.m., Dietitian Paige will be teaching you how to make all of the best salsas using fresh ingredients from our rooftop garden!

You will get to make and enjoy Jalapeno Tomato Salsa, Mango Pineapple Salsa, Homemade Spinach Tortilla Chips, and a Blueberry Basil Cooler.

Additional Appetizers will be premade to pair with dishes. You can register for this class or if you have questions, reach out to Paige at wiemanp@bgsu.edu.

5. Updated Office Hours for Student Employment Services

Effective Wednesday through Sept. 10, Student Employment Services will have reduced office hours. The office will be open for onboarding from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

1. Building Community in a Virtual Classroom

Fostering a sense of community and belonging in remote learning contexts can help students feel less isolated and more connected to their peers, the instructor, and the course content. This workshop focuses on elements of online pedagogy that promote community building in remote learning. Referencing the Community of Inquiry framework, this session focuses on online and remote teaching strategies and Canvas tools that support Cognitive Presence (critical thinking and reflection), Teaching Presence (facilitating discussions, creating connections, and providing feedback and support), and Social Presence (student engagement, authentic peer interaction, shared goals, and collaboration).

• Monday, Aug. 30 from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom

• Thursday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. 12:30 p.m. via Zoom
