We have completed our sixth week of classes together! We hope you are enjoying your Wellness Days and wanted to check in with you and share some key updates:
  • As you may know, we continue to see a decrease in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. This is promising news, but we ask you to stay at it. Your daily decisions impact our public health. Please continue to follow our health and safety protocols and keep your interactions to small groups, safely.
  • BGSU continues to offer free COVID-19 testing for students, faculty and staff, with a preference to those who are physically on our campuses. This increased testing capability allows for members of our community to have access to rapid antigen and PCR tests. Students, faculty and staff may schedule an appointment today. In addition, as we did in the fall semester, we are conducting randomized surveillance and targeted testing.
  • We remain committed to keeping you updated about COVID-19 vaccine information as it will be the most effective tool to slowing the spread of this virus. Distribution continues to increase, and more information is available about vaccines at Wood County Health Department and Erie County Health Department.
  • To our students who are learning in our in-person/hybrid, remote or fully online courses this semester, we want to remind you that our faculty and staff are here for you throughout this semester. We are always open to feedback. You can share both positive experiences and concerns by emailing President Rogers at president@bgsu.edu.
  • As we shared last week, the secret is now out. SICSIC, Freddie and Frieda identities have been revealed. Congratulations to the students who are part of such storied traditons!
  • There is another Falcons After Dark event planned tonight starting at 6 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Students voted all week and can check out a "Riverdale" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" marathon in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom. Craft bags and snacks will be available at the event. In addition, the Division of Diversity and Belonging continues to offer events as part of our Beyond the Dream series.
Given that this week included your first Wellness Days, we especially want to hear how you spent your days off. Send a note to president@bgsu.edu and share your favorite activity to win a gift card from Falcon Outfitters!
We are so proud of how our community continues to respond to this global pandemic. We are counting on every member of our community to move forward, which requires your continued adaptability and flexibility. We are in this together.
Regards,
