BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
March 18, 2021
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency 374 days ago. We have been battling COVID-19 for more than a year. While we implemented health and safety measures that helped slow the spread of the virus, we also recognize that a safe vaccine was the larger goal. With each day, more Ohioans are getting one of three vaccines, which have received emergency use authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Starting Monday, March 29, all Ohioans age 16 or older are now eligible to receive a vaccine. As a public university for the public good, BGSU offered its facilities for vaccine distribution. We are partnering with the Wood County Health Department to host COVID-19 vaccine clinics on Tuesday, March 30, and Wednesday, March 31, at the Perry Field House on our campus in Bowling Green. Dates for the second vaccine dose will be April 20-21 at the Perry Field House. These vaccination clinics are open to the public. However, as our students, faculty and staff, I wanted to directly reach out to you to ensure you are aware of these vaccine clinics.
The Wood County Health Department will open registration for the March 30-31 clinics this Friday, March 19, at noon. We encourage our BGSU community to sign up for the vaccine as soon as registration opens. Be sure to use your local address when registering.
The Wood County Health Department has partnered with ArmorVax, a mobile application, to help people register for COVID-19 vaccines. All vaccine clinic appointments are scheduled via the ArmorVax app or website. You can download the app and create a profile ahead of time to be ready as appointments become available. Find out more information on using ArmorVax.
There is an additional vaccine clinic planned for on Wednesday, April 7, at Perry Field House. Registration for the April 7 clinic will open next Friday, March 26, at noon. Just like COVID-19 testing availability early in the global pandemic, we recognize the number of vaccines coming to Wood County may be less than the demand. However, there are other opportunities to get the vaccine in Wood County. That information is available on the Wood County Health Department website. We will continue to plan for additional clinics as vaccine supplies increase.
BGSU strongly encourages all members of our campus community to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccinating our students, faculty and staff against COVID-19 is part of our plan to return to a robust in-person experience in fall 2021.
We continue to appreciate all your flexibility and adaptability to ensure we move forward together.
