A letter from the CIO
Welcome back to fall semester! The summer has flown by and many new projects have been completed and are ready for use, including:

Winter Session 2019 officially starts with the new academic year. All systems are go for the first winter session registration in October!

Printers and Copiers – 560 new printers and copiers were installed on campus over the past several months. While they may look similar to the machines they replaced, they are brand new models. Significant new changes lie in the software package, easy-to-use touch screen panel and new apps. We will be adding new features during the school year for everyone’s use, so stay tuned.

Securing the Human training offers a 20 minute library of videos covering how to keep yourself safe “online”. We will be launching the training site in September and hope you will take advantage of the material for your personal cyber safety.

Career Center “Handshake” is now live and will be the new career system for jobs, job fairs, job searches, co-ops and internships.

Adobe Campaign mass email utility is providing departments and units with a more robust way to send university-related email messages and track analytics.

Please remain vigilant in detecting phishing emails and other strange email requests. Our security team will continue to alert you of any fraudulent activity as we see it come through. In addition, I strongly recommend adding Duo Two Step Authentication to your BGSU email (like we have setup for the MyBGSU portal). This is a free service that will save you much agony, should you fall victim to a phishing attack. To opt in, login to the MyBGSU portal and select Help Desk from the orange bar at the top of the screen. Next, click on Two Step Authentication from the left navigation menu to review the available protection options.

As always, ITS stands ready to help you have a successful year!

Sincerely,

John Ellinger, CIO
