At Civic Engagement in the Marvin Center for Student Leadership you can...
✔ Develop Skills ✔ Apply your Learning
✔ Serve the Public Good ✔ Foster Partnerships
✔ Make a Difference ✔ Find Connections
Civic Engagement in the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership helps students engage with the community and challenges you to become a reflective learner and engaged citizen. We are a great starting point to find community engagement activities and community-based learning courses to get the experiences and develop the skills necessary for effective community action.
We look forward to working with you to develop your civic action plan for the impact you want to have while at BGSU and beyond.
Community-Based Learning Courses
A community-based learning course (also known as service-learning) combines regular coursework, community engagement, and reflection. A community-based learning course also provides an opportunity for students, faculty members, and community partners to engage in organized community activities that address community-identified needs. The experience pushes you to reflect on engagement activities to gain a further understanding of the curricular content, enhance your personal values, and increase your sense of social responsibility.
