Dr. V Jane Rosser is the Director of the Center for Public Impact at Bowling Green State University. She has worked in international higher education for over 20 years in the UK and the US. A graduate of the University of Sussex in Political Science and English & American Studies, the University of Texas at Austin in Political Science, she has a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from Bowling Green State University.


Her professional work has encompassed student affairs, women's centers, community partnerships, and more recently, service-learning and civic engagement. At BGSU she teaches regularly for the Division of Higher Education and Student Affairs and serves on the Women's Studies Steering Committee. She is an affiliated faculty member in Women's Studies and American Culture Studies. She was instrumental in bringing an AmeriCorps program to Northwest Ohio, and Wood County Corps has developed into a very successful civic outreach program for BGSU with members serving in 17 agencies in Wood County.

She is actively involved in a range of community-based partnerships, local and national grant-related activities and in work with Ohio and National Campus Compact. Her research and activism interests include access and diversity issues in high education, gender and LGBT issues, organizational change, qualitative research methods, service-learning, and social change.

Paul Valdez is a 2004 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology with an emphasis in Paleobiology.  He graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2007 with a Master’s of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs.  Paul has worked at BGSU in a variety of roles such as Special Project Coordinator in the Honors Program, Major Event Coordinator in Campus Activities, and Assistant Director of Co-Curricular Programs in the Center for Public Impact.  He also has a background working for Semester at Sea as a Resident Director for voyages in 2007 and 2011.  Since 2007 Paul has been involved in the Northwest Ohio community serving as a board member and chair with EqualityToledo, an LGBTQA rights organization, serving currently on the U.S. Together refugee resettlement organization Advisory Board, and serving on the Old West End Association Security board. He also has served at the state level with Ohio Campus Compact as Advisory Board chair and annual conference planning committee chair.  Paul is originally from Walsenburg, Colorado, but now calls the Old West End of Toledo home.  His research interests include identity development of students who have studied abroad and the impact of service-learning and civic engagement.

Laura is a third-year student majoring in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management. She is passionate about helping others and she hopes that her time with the Center for Public Impact will allow her to develop that passion. Laura is also a Bowen Thompson Family Scholar with the 2018 Cohort.

Joanna Line

Position: Graduate Assistant

Joanna Line graduated from Oberlin with B.A. degrees in Biology and French in 2011. She earned an M.S. in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith College where she also served as an Assistant Coach of Cross Country Track and Field. She also worked as an Assistant Coach of Cross Country and Track and Field at BGSU from 2016-2018. She is currently working toward her Ph.D. in American Culture Studies with a focus on sports for the promotion of social justice and sport psychology. In addition to sports, Joanna is passionate about travel as a means of promoting intercultural understanding. She spent one year as an exchange student with AFS in Belgium prior to attending Oberlin, and following graduation she was awarded a Watson Fellowship that granted her the opportunity to spend one year researching women’s empowerment through running in different cultures. She trained and competed with teams around the world in countries including Ethiopia, France, Norway, and Singapore. She continues to support these causes as a volunteer for Girls Gotta Run Foundation and Hostelling International USA.

Aubree Hughart joins our team here at BGSU from Jonesboro, Arkansas. A 2019 graduate of Arkansas State University, Aubree holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and is now in the Master’s of Arts College Student Personnel program at BGSU. Before moving to BG, Aubree worked in marketing and social media management for a real estate agency. Her involvement includes leadership positions throughout undergrad in student government, Greek life, peer mentoring, student publications and student activity planning. In her free time, Aubree is usually either exploring her new home state of Ohio, cooking or crafting.

Hannah Koch

Position: BGSU Ending Hunger Coordinator

Hannah Koch is from Norwalk, Ohio and is a junior in the Dietetics program at BGSU. She is a non-traditional student and has worked in food service in restaurants and cafeterias for over 6 years. She aspires to be a Registered Dietitian and return home to practice in the Firelands area. She is the student lead on the Food Justice and Equity initiative, member of Student Nutrition Association and co-founded a student organization called Study Bud, that offers tutoring to BGSU students.
