CFE Faculty Book Clubs

The Center For Faculty Excellence is hosting book clubs for faculty.  Book club topics will be focused on best practices in teaching and learning and will be facilitated by CFE Faculty Associates and Staff. Members will meet approximately 3-4 times throughout the course of the semester for discussion, dialog, and to share experiences with colleagues.  The book club schedule, including the selected book and group facilitators is listed below:

Fall Semester 2017
  • Book: Teach Students How to Learn by Saundra McGuire
  • Facilitators: Jessica Turos, Julie Matuga, and Connie Molnar
  • Location: Olscamp Room 110
    This book club will be focused on new faculty topics
    There are two sessions for this book club. Please select one of them on the registration form.
    • Session 1 dates and times: Mondays: September 25, October 30, November 27, & December 18 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm
    • Session 2 dates and times: Wednesdays: September 27, October 25, November 29, & December 20 from 1:00 - 2:30 pm
  • Book: A Guide to Teaching in the Active Learning Classroom: History, Research, and Practice by Paul Baepler, J.D. Walker, D. Christopher brooks, Kem Saichaie, and Christina I. Pertersen.
  • Facilitators: Allison Goedde and Holly Barber
  • Location: Olscamp Room 110
  • Dates: Thursdays: September 21, October 26, November 30, & December 14
  • Time: 3:30 - 5:00 pm


  • Book: Facilitating Seven Ways of Learning by James R. Davis and Bridget D. Arend
  • Facilitator: Rita Pool
  • Location: Olscamp Room 110
  • Dates: Thursdays: September 21, October 19, November 16, & December 14
  • Time: Noon - 1:00 pm


Book clubs are limited to 12 members and books will be provided by the Center for Faculty Excellence.
