Suicide Awareness – Start the Conversation

Start the Conversation is a collaborative training between the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe. In a training session, participants learn what a community of care is and how to contribute to the Community of Care at BGSU. This interactive training teaches participants how to identify warning signs of people who might be struggling and how to be helpful to them.  Participants will learn ways to heighten their awareness so no Falcon struggles alone. They will learn about active listening skills and boundaries or barriers to having a caring conversation. Participants will experience how powerful simple expressions of care can be and what to do if you know someone in crisis. They will also learn what resources are available including the Counseling Center and how to make referrals.
