BGSU creates virtual engagement community
Whether you live in Bowling Green or are states away, BGSU campuses are your home. The BGSU experience is about more than academic pursuits, so the University is excited to launch #BGSUVirtual - an online hub to stay engaged with the University. From staying active with virtual yoga to viewing weekly concerts from the College of Musial Arts to taking part in an online book club, this virtual community is the perfect place to connect and build out a whole new set of opportunities.

Brandon Peebles plans to make an impact in criminal justice
The criminal justice program at BGSU attracted graduate student Brandon Peebles because he wants to make a positive impact in the community. Peebles credits his experiences and opportunities at BGSU for landing a full-time youth adviser position with the Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio.

BGSU doctoral student's passion for program bridges miles, years
Yihui Li left a familiar job, routine and culture to pursue her Ph.D. in higher education administration at Bowling Green State University. In the process, she learned more about Asian culture and her own potential while living in the United States.

BGSU networking event freshmen year leads to full-time job with Honda
Bowling Green State University College of Business graduate Ameera Venkataraman credits a networking event during her freshman year with landing two internships and, ultimately, a full-time job with Honda after graduation. She will start as a buyer, negotiating contracts for future commodities, meeting with suppliers and mitigating crisis management.

Alumna Maryrose Sylvester ’88 shared her core pieces of advice with the BGSU Class of 2018 on December 14 at the Stroh Center. Sylvester addressed the candidates from the Graduate College and the colleges of Business; Health and Human Services; Musical Arts; Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering; and BGSU Firelands.

Jan Heppe ’74: Choices ‘will define your life’s journey’
Bowling Green State University alumna and home economics program graduate Jan Heppe ’74 addressed the Class of 2018 on December 15 at the Stroh Center. Heppe advised graduate candidates from the colleges of Arts and Sciences and Education and Human Development that choices “will define your life’s journey.”

A two-year teaching commitment in Thailand is the final step in Kinsey Smith’s BGSU education, but it’s just the start of her work to inspire a love of lifelong learning in her students. Derwin Pritchett has a love for sports. He originally became aware of Bowling Green State University through its acclaimed sport management program. The Maryland native visited both BGSU and the University of Michigan before finally deciding to become a Falcon.

A role model for excellence
At the University’s December commencement ceremonies at the Stroh Center, BGSU’s convocation center and basketball arena, the University presented an honorary doctorate of business administration to Allen W. Schmidhorst after whom the Schmidthorst Pavilion at the Stroh is named, in honor of his leadership gift for the facility and his ongoing support of the University.

Leadership exemplified
At Bowling Green State University’s December commencement ceremonies, the University bestowed an honorary doctorate of liberal arts upon one of its distinguished alumni, C. Raymond Marvin of McLean, Virginia. The degree recognizes his leadership in business and as a community member and his encouragement of those attributes in young people.

BGSU's tech-savvy students help older adults learn technology
For the past five years, students in Dr. Kate Magsamen-Conrad’s classes have been helping older adults get comfortable with technology. This partnership with the Wood County Committee on Aging and the Wood County District Public Library in Bowling Green fills a community need and meets learning outcomes.

BGSU to hold Commencement December 15 and 16
Bowling Green State University will celebrate its 290th graduation in the Stroh Center on Dec. 15 and 16. The December class includes 954 candidates; two honorary degrees will also be awarded. Alumni Vandana Pednekar-Magal and Doug Good will serve as commencement speakers.

Jerome Library has extended hours to study for finals
During finals week, plan to study at Jerome Library, which provides a safe and comfortable research and study environment for BGSU students, staff, and faculty. The library has extended hours, open 24 hours Monday (Dec. 11) through Thursday (Dec. 14). The library is open Friday from midnight to 6 p.m.

BGSU named most affordable college in Ohio
Bowling Green State University was recently placed on Business Insider’s list of the most affordable colleges in every state. The list is based on Chronicle of Higher Education tuition data and only includes colleges and universities ranked in the top 220 by U.S. News and World Report.

BGSU named a Bridge Program partner for physics
Bowling Green State University’s physics program has been designated a Partner Institution in the American Physical Society Bridge Program, which has a goal to increase the number of underrepresented minorities earning doctoral degrees in physics over the next 10 years.

Student Health Insurance Requirements
Domestic students who are taking eight or more credit hours or do not have other health insurance must enroll in the the BGSU/Aetna Student Health Plan by August 15. If a student currently has adequate health insurance and does not wish to enroll in the plan, a waiver must be submitted through the student's MyBGSU account before the deadline.

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to President Mary Ellen Mazey’s 2016 State of the University address this Friday (Aug. 26) at 10:30 a.m. in the Thomas B. and Kathleen M. Donnell Theatre at The Wolfe Center for the Arts. The Firelands community can gather to watch in 1011 Cedar Point Center.

BGSU presented with MAC FAR for sixth time in eight years
The BGSU women's athletics program was presented with the 2015-16 Mid-American Conference Women's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Academic Achievement Award on Saturday. MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher presented BGSU with the award that recognizes the conference institution with the overall highest GPA rank by gender.

Dubow's studies of violence’s effects on children have wide impact
Although most have never met him, children the world over have an important advocate in Dr. Eric Dubow, a BGSU professor of psychology. For more than 25 years, his contributions to the field of child clinical psychology and child mental health have earned him the respect of psychologists worldwide.

Activate Your MyBGSU Account
Activating your account provides you access to your personal BGSU email address and online portal where you can select on-campus housing, view your financial aid package (once released) and sign up for new student orientation.
Sign Up for Housing
Once you have been admitted and have activated your MyBGSU account, reserve your space by making the $200 housing payment through your MyBGSU account. Then, you can browse for potential roommates or request a specific roommate.
