Bob Anderson ’86

Bob Anderson, founder, chairman and chief development officer of The Leadership Circle, as well as the co-founder and chairman of Full Circle Group, is an internationally recognized authority on what constitutes effective leadership; what hinders its practice and how best to develop leaders in today’s organizations.  

Anderson's practical approach to leadership is rooted in his being an entrepreneur having founded, led, grown, merged and sold global businesses. He blends his CEO experience with the experience of having consulted with senior leaders throughout his career. He is the creator of The Leadership Circle Profile, an integrated and innovative leadership assessment tool that is the culmination of 30 years of research, and is often acknowledged as the world’s most impactful leadership assessment.

His recently published book, Mastering Leadership: An Integrated Framework for Breakthrough Performance and Extraordinary Business Results, offers a compelling read as it integrates his experiences with the best theory, research and practice in the field of leadership. It develops the first Universal Model of Leadership to emerge in the field as a finely woven and practical tapestry for personal and organizational transformation.

Derrick Barton ’94

Derrick Barton, chief executive officer for the Center for Talent Solutions and author of Engaging TALENT: A Field Guide, is one of the world’s leading experts in the practical implementation of talent practices. His pragmatic approach has helped organizations like Baylor Healthcare, General Electric, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, John Deere, EMC, DOD, FEMA, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Unilever.  

He implements “real” solutions necessary to deliver over six hundred and one million dollars of incremental results. Barton has a wealth of experience gained through leadership roles within manufacturing, telecommunications and the high tech business segments. His upcoming book, Engaging Talent: A Field Guide, highlights his collaborations with fifty thousand leaders to improve talents results and increase organization performance.


 

Boyatzis

Richard Boyatzis, Ph.D.

Distinguished University Professor, Case Western Reserve University

Richard Boyatzis is a distinguished university professor and professor in the Departments of Organizational Behavior, Psychology and Cognitive Science at Case Western Reserve University, and HR Horvitz Professor of Family Business, as well as adjunct professor in people/organizations at ESADE. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Harvard University.  

Using his Intentional Change Theory (ICT), he studies sustained, desired change at all levels of human endeavor from individuals, teams, organizations, communities and countries. Before becoming a professor, he was CEO of the research consulting company McBer and Company (now part of the Hay Group/Korn Ferry) for 11 years and COO of the market research company Yankelovich, Skelly and White for three years. He was ranked #9 Most Influential International Thinker by HR Magazine in 2012 and 2014.  

He is the author of more than 200 articles on leadership, competencies, emotional intelligence, competency development, coaching, neuroscience and management education. His Coursera MOOCs, including Inspiring Leadership Through Emotional Intelligence have over 625,000 enrolled from 215 countries. His seven books include: The Competent Manager; the international best-seller, Primal Leadership with Daniel Goleman and Annie McKee; and Resonant Leadership, with Annie McKee.

Lori Gabel '15 

Lori Gabel is the human resource talent engagement leader at Westfield Insurance, a personal and commercial lines property and casualty insurance company headquartered in Westfield Center, Ohio.  Her expertise crosses multiple disciplines within talent management and corporate learning and development including performance management, leadership development, organization development, change management, coaching, and facilitation.   

Gabel has over 20 years of experience and has held various positions with companies such as General Electric and The Timken Company.  Lori holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Industrial Relations from Kent State University, an Executive Masters in Organization Development (EMOD) from Bowling Green State University, and multiple certifications including Prosci ADKAR certification, Six Sigma Green Belt, and multiple certifications in the Korn Ferry Lominger Suite.

Jake Jacobs

Jake Jacobs, author, blogger and consultant, is one of only eighteen certified Polarity Management Masters in North America. Writing and speaking extensively on Real Time Strategic Change, he works in complex, messy and significant situations, harnessing the power of "both/and" thinking for more effective, sustainable results. His approach has led to fast and lasting positive outcomes in companies, communities and countries around the world.

Gene Poor, Ph.D.

Hamilton Endowed Professor of Entrepreneurship, Bowling Green State University

Dr. Gene Poor’s career has been a combination of university teaching, administration, research and program development coupled with intense entrepreneurial innovation, product creation and training/consultation within the private sector. 
 
Poor is the Scott Hamilton Endowed Professor of Entrepreneurship in the College of Business Administration at Bowling Green State University. He has received recognition as a Master Teacher by the University as well as national recognition.
 
Dr. Poor is also a Professor Emeritus in the College of Technology at BGSU where he conceived and launched the Visual Communication Technology (VCT) program in the early 1970’s. This unique interdisciplinary is a benchmark program graduating students with careers throughout the world in education, business, industry and entertainment sectors.

Dr. Poor has written numerous articles and authored/co-authored eight books on technology, business and creativity/innovation. He has presented throughout the United States as well as in Europe and in the Middle East. His list of consultations includes dozens of Fortune 100 and 500 companies including 3M, Honeywell, Marathon Oil, Owens Corning, IBM, Sherwin Williams, and Kellogg. 
 
Poor has been involved in numerous entrepreneurial start-ups over a thirty year period that include designing and building media control systems, restaurant design and fabrication, residential and commercial construction, train-the-trainer instruction, creativity/innovation consulting, display and exhibit design, interactive game development, simulation creation, themed attraction design, and all forms of media design and production. He won the Northwest Ohio Entrepreneur Award from EY, was inducted into the Toledo Entrepreneur Hall of Fame and the College of Business Administration’s Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. 
 
Dr. Poor’s founded a three-dimensional animatronics company called LifeFormations. The company was incorporated in 1991 and has evolved into an employee-owned organization that is the preeminent manufacturer of static and animated characters for theme parks, museums, tradeshows, and retail operations. The management team of LifeFormations include graduates from the VCT program. 
 
LifeFormations products can be found at venues such as The Walt Disney Company, Universal Studios, Dickens’s World, Museum of African American History, The Great Wolf Lodges, Cabelas, Europa Park, American Girl Place and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
