Professor Nicolaou is working on a variety of projects that are useful to managers and accountants. He is currently conducting a study on the design of management control and integrated information systems in inter-organizational alliances.
He also does research in the implementation of enterprise systems in organizations and their effects on a firm's information environment, including effects on managers' forecast accuracy. Some of his other work examines social control and social cognition theories in explaining user intentions in their use of information systems to exchange data at the inter-organizational level.
He applies his research findings in his classroom teaching and has developed research studies that build on his classroom discussions and lectures. He has developed professional articles in the area of enterprise systems, audit and control issues in cloud computing, and design approaches in the use of databases in accounting systems.
