    Highlights of Sexual Assault Awareness Month include “What Were You Wearing,” an exhibit by sexual assault survivors to challenge victim-blaming statements; the Sexual Assault Awareness Month 5K and Dog Walk; and the Clothesline Project. Additional events include free and confidential HIV testing, peer education presentations and a Step Up Step In basketball tournament.

    The University has hired an experienced administrator with a background in Title IX and student affairs to serve in the new position of assistant vice president for student affairs/Title IX officer. Jennifer McCary will join BGSU in January, Dr. Thomas Gibson, vice president for student affairs and vice provost, announced Sept. 8.

  • Aug 25, 2017 9:16 AM BGSU implements efforts to address sexual assault
    The Bowling Green State University Task Force on Sexual Assault has completed its work and issued a final report of recommendations to address sexual assault on the university’s campuses. President Mary Ellen Mazey has announced that all of the recommendations will be implemented.

  • Jun 13, 2017 9:05 AM Ohio Department of Higher Education funds BGSU campaign to prevent campus sexual violence
    BGSU recently received a $10,000 award from the Ohio Department of Higher Education. This was one of 23 awards for education projects designed to prevent sexual violence at Ohio's colleges and universities. The award with support Step Up-Step In, which enhances existing “It’s on Us” programming.

  • Jan 6, 2016 3:00 PM BGSU receives grant for campus sexual assault victims’ services
    BGSU will receive more than $82,000 from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to assist victims of sexual assault on campus. The University will use these funds to contract with The Cocoon, a Wood County shelter providing support to battered women and their children, to pay for a full-time victim advocate to serve BGSU students, staff and faculty of all genders who have experienced sexual assault, relationship violence or stalking. The advocate will help victims find resources, understand legal options and campus procedures, and navigate the criminal justice system.
