World Languages and Cultures Learning Communities
BGSU has a number of learning communities, which are residence hall arrangements in which students live in proximity with others who share common interests. When you join a learning community, you move into an environment where friendships have common ground and campus more quickly feels like home.
Two learning communities fall under World Languages and Cultures. You don’t have to major or be fluent in a language to join — you simply need to have a passion for the language.
LA COMUNIDAD
La Comunidad is a community for students passionate for the Spanish-speaking world. This close-knit community provides cultural and academic programming that encourages and builds your confidence to use Spanish communication in your everyday life. Through activities focusing on the Spanish language and culture immersion in a co-ed residential setting, members of this community are a part of something that goes well beyond the in-class experience.
LA MAISON FRANÇAISE
La Maison Française - or the French House - is a residential learning community where students interested in French can live and be surrounded by the language and cultures of the Francophone world. Located in Kohl Hall, La Maison Française is designed to house up to 12 undergraduate male and female students who have had at least 2 years of high school French or FREN 1020 at BGSU. The faculty director has an on-site office, and several French classes are offered in Kohl Hall classrooms.
