In the Department of Theatre & Film, our majors are actively involved in all aspects of production and performance – a key facet in future success. With numerous high-profile campus and community performance opportunities each year, students are in the spotlight the moment they walk in our door.
Comprised of two distinct disciplines and housed in the renowned Wolfe Center for the Arts, we foster the development of the scholar-artist-citizen, through both practical and inquiry-based learning.

George is a man consumed with preserving and documenting the dying languages of far-flung cultures. Closer to home, though, language is failing him. He doesn't know what to say to his wife, Mary, to keep her from leaving him, and he doesn't recognize the deep feelings that his lab assistant, Emma, has for him. Get tickets

Film student Keisha Martin to release short film
Monti is a short film written and directed by Keisha Martin, a Film Production student at BGSU. The film is a dark comedy about a waitress who finds herself in a strange situation one night after work. Plagued with a dead body, new found supernatural powers, and no where to go, Monti turns back to her estranged friend for help. They tackle murder, acceptance, and friendship as they reconnect once again.
Treehouse Troupe performs at local schools
The show this year, New Kid, explores timely themes of immigration, discrimination, and bullying. The full cast & crew are: Shannon Bingham (Nic), Autumn Chisholm/Talisa Lemke (Mencha), Harmon Andrew/Talisa Lemke (Mug), Kristyn Curnow (Mom), Kailee McAfee (Stage Manager), Katie Grzymkowski (Costume Designer), and Miranda Sutton (Scenic Designer). Cynthia Baron honored for Faculty Excellence
The University recognized a group of its highest-achieving faculty on April 13th during the annual Faculty Excellence Awards. Faculty were honored for research, teaching, creative arts, service, leadership, advising, mentoring and more during the celebratory event in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
