Inventing Contemporary Ornament: A National Invitational Exhibition August 27 -September 27, Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery. Harlan W. Butt Sharon Church Thelma Coles Marilyn da Silva Pat Flynn Gary S. Griffin Keith A. Lewis Richard Mawdsley Maria Phillips Kate Wagle Kiwon Wang Heather White Joe Wood Curated by BGSU head of the metals department Tom Muir, this exhibition presents ambitious work by 13 contemporary jewelers and metalsmiths. Including a range of utilitarian and non-utilitarian jewelry, vessels, furniture and sculpture, these works provide unique and stimulating perspectives on contemporary, historical and social issues from artists working with both traditional and non-traditional contexts. Hieke Bartels David Berg, Christopher Bucklow Ellen Carey Alain Gerard Clement Susan Derges Adam Fuss Christopher Giglio Don Kline Daniel Levin Amanda Means Daro Montag Kunie Sugiura Cheryl Van Hooven James Welling This Is Not A Photograph shows work by contemporary artists who explore light and form and who use the raw materials of photography: light, shadow, and light sensitive mediums, without making what is traditionally thought of as a photograph. The exhibition was curated by Professor Roger Sayre, and the tour is being circulated by Pamela Auchincloss Arts Management. Lecture: Curator Roger Sayre. September 20, 7 p.m., 204 FA. The culminating exhibitions for graduating BGSU Fine Arts students at the Baccalaureate level, these exhibitions showcase series of works by each of the artists. Opening Reception: April 6, 7-9 p.m Open daily (except Monday): Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m. Special times for groups or classes are available by appointment.
