Morgan Buchs (McDougall)

Morgan Buchs (McDougall) is currently pursuing her doctorate in Rhetoric & Writing Studies, with an expected graduation of Spring 2022. She has taught courses at BGSU since 2016, including WRIT 1110 and 1120, ENG 4830, and ENG 4840.

She brings an undergraduate degree in Education and a master's in Literary and Textual Studies to her scholarship and pedagogy, engaging her students in active learning workshops and discussions. She strongly believes in connecting the world of academic writing with that of her students' personal lives. Conversations in the classroom often consist of questions regarding the transfer of knowledge to future classes, careers, and life experiences. She approaches this through a transfer-focused pedagogy, employing a Writing about Writing (WAW) concentration to the content of her classes, while also integrating beliefs and understandings from rhetorical genre studies. Ultimately, Morgan aims to help her students connect the writing, skills, and knowledge that they gain from academic writing to the writing and research they will do outside of the academy - with the goal of developing lifelong writers, learners, and critical thinkers.

Morgan can be reached by email and welcomes further conversation.
