As a GSW writing instructor, I have multiple goals for the classroom. I invest my time into my students so that they leave the class with a new set of skills and appreciation for writing. My students and I work as a team to create a safe space in the classroom where we can hone our craft together.
Students will be able to grasp the threshold concept of the course and move forward in their studies. We all learn differently, so I value new ways of engagement and practice all of the learning styles in my classroom. Not only do I teach writing, but my students have the opportunity to practice writing every day, and from there we grow as writers together.
I believe in teaching the importance of creative writing and academic writing as synonymous. Students are able to explore their passions, develop critical thinking skills, and practice new writing strategies and techniques. Along with gaining new knowledge, a written voice, and the ability to think and approach new methods creatively, I hope my students leave the class with confidence. As a GSW writing instructor, I have multiple goals for the classroom.
