Minors Related to Computer Science

Computer Science majors are required to choose a minor or a specialization. Most computer science majors in the BS degree program automatically complete the Science Comprehensive minor with their mathematics and science courses and thus need no other minor or specialization. The following specializations and minors may be of interest to a computer science major.

Science Comprehensive (BS degree majors only)

Requires a total of 53 hours of natural science, mathematics, and computer science, including no more than 33 hours of computer science. For example, students completing ten hours of natural science and ten hours of mathematics for the degree have automatically earned the Science Comprehensive minor if they have completed one extra CS course (e.g. CS 1010, 3160, or 3600).

Business Systems Specialization (CS majors only)

21 hours must be chosen from the following courses:

The computer science major can choose any minor offered by any college at the University, and will occasionally choose a minor that's unrelated to the major to satisfy a personal interest.
