Mathematics and statistics
Each student is required to complete with a letter grade
- MATH 1260 or 1310, or both 1340 and 1350. Students are strongly urged to take MATH 1310, or 1340 and 1350, rather than 1260. Credit for MATH 90, 95, and 1210 does not count toward the degree. Only three hours of credit for MATH 1200 count toward the degree.
- STAT 2110 and 2120.
One lab science course from the list of natural science courses for the BG Perspective program is required and may be counted toward BG Perspective requirements.
Social and behavioral sciences
Each student is required to complete four courses from the list of social and behavioral sciences courses for the BG Perspective program: ECON 2020, 2030 (completed with a letter grade), and two additional courses. Any two of the four courses may be counted toward BG Perspective requirements.
Humanities and arts
Each student is required to complete three courses from the list of humanities and arts courses for the BG Perspective program. Any two of the three courses may be counted toward BG Perspective requirements.
Oral and written communications
All economics majors must satisfy a written and oral communications requirement in economics. Certification by an economics faculty member that the requirement has been met is required. Details are available in the department office.
Economics (except ECON 2000) or other courses may be used as free electives to complete the minimum degree requirements of 122 credit hours. The number of credit hours needed (18-31) is determined by the number of hours taken as University, general degree, or major requirements.
