Guidelines for faculty and staff seeking corporate support
Guidelines for BGSU Faculty and Staff: Proposals for Corporate Support
In order to more closely align BGSU’s strategic priorities with the needs of its corporate partners and to maximize support, the university is transitioning to a more centralized approach to corporate relations. ALL major corporate support is now coordinated through University Advancement, through the Office of Corporate/Foundation Relations (Pam Conlin firstname.lastname@example.org, 419-372-7706). Please note distinctions in categories and timelines below. For optimal results, please plan ahead!
Top Corporations: Contact CFR at least four weeks in advance
No matter what the amount, all non-procurement interactions with these companies below (and their corporate foundations) is now centrally managed. Please contact Pam Conlin to set up an appointment to discuss your project and proposal at least four weeks prior to your desire to approach the company/foundation. Updates to this list will be shared periodically with members of the President’s cabinet, deans, unit heads, and development staff college liaisons.

Corporate Support $3,000 and up: Contact CFR at least three weeks in advance
For all other companies, if your anticipated request is for $3,000 or more, please submit this form to the Office of Corporate/Foundation Relations at least three weeks ahead, so that Pam Conlin can discuss your request and assist you with proposal development. If you have difficulties with the form, please contact Lisa Bowen at email@example.com.
Corporate Support Under $3,000
Requests for corporate support of less than $3,000 do not need to be reviewed by University Advancement prior to submission, unless the company is on the list of Top Corporations (see above for names and instructions). These requests may include, but are not limited to, requests for:
- cash amounts under $3,000
- in-kind donations valued under $3,000, e.g. donations of food or material goods, donations of services, or tickets to events.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The BGSU Foundation can share with you an in-kind donation form to use with the company. Please contact Lisa Bowen firstname.lastname@example.org for the form, which, when filled in and returned, will help the BGSU Foundation to accept and process any donations. This also assists BGSU’s efforts to collect and centralize data on the university’s interactions with corporations.
Routing Process for Corporate Support Solicitations
Just as a sign-off process is necessary for grant proposals, sign-off is also required for corporate solicitations, to ensure your department head/dean is aware of your request. Failure to do so could hold up your proposal. CFR staff will discuss this process with you upon submission of the form above.
