The need for understanding languages and cultures of our global neighbors is at an all-time high and the demand for language teachers is growing. In many states, there is a shortage of highly qualified language teachers.
Our World Language Education program will prepare you for a career teaching one of eight languages – Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian or Spanish. As a language teacher, you can have a direct impact on the ability of future generations to be more globally connected in the 21st century. Students who earn licensure will be able to teach in elementary (Pre-K–8) or secondary (7–12) schools.
We connect students to study-abroad teaching opportunities such as in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and multicultural, bilingual student teaching opportunity, such as Aldine, Texas. Additionally, BGSU faculty members lead study abroad programs in Austria, Russia and Spain collaboration with local, on-site professors.
Our renowned Academic Year Abroad programs offer you the linguistic and cultural benefits of extended living and studying in another language and culture.
