Service excellence is important because services represent 85% of U.S. economy and more than 80% of businesses today are considered service companies. We see the significance and are dedicated to help our undergraduate students develop skills in identifying market opportunities and developing and implementing marketing programs within a global economy. Marketing consists of a broad spectrum of activities beginning with the initial conception of a product offering through selling and post-sale activities.
Career opportunities in marketing include such areas as advertising account management, brand management, marketing research, retailing, product planning, professional selling, sales management, and wholesaling/distribution management.
At BGSU, students have two marketing specialization options - a general marketing specialization and a new sales and services marketing specialization. BGSU is one of the few universities in the country to offer an undergraduate program focused specifically on services marketing and selling services and have faculty members who are world renowned for services marketing.
