Who is your advisor?

You may have one advisor or a team of advisors – and if you are enrolled in multiple majors or programs, you may have an advisor for each. This is to ensure you receive advising from individuals who know your specific details.

No matter what, never feel hesitant to reach out to your advisor(s). They are here to help you. Your advisor can help you develop your graduation plan, select courses, get familiar with the university and achieve personal, educational and career goals. The resources on this page are here to help you connect with your advisor(s).

Find Your Advisor

If you are a current student, you can follow these steps to see your advisor(s). If you are a new or transfer student, you may not be able to see who your advisor is until it gets closer to the start of the semester.

  • Log in to MyBGSU
  • Select 'Student Center'
  • Look for the blue box with the header 'Advisors'. This is where your advisor(s) will be listed.

  • You can contact your advisor at the phone number listed under their name in the blue box.
  • To email your advisor, click on “details” and select the advisor you wish to email.

Having trouble reaching your advisor? If you do not hear back from your advisor in a reasonable timeframe, please contact the advising office at 419-372-8943 or advising@bgsu.edu. Keep in mind that most advisors typically work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, and response times may be slower during weekends and holidays.
