I am an identical twin. Also, I lived in New Zealand for six months when I was 16.

Favorite BGSU Memory:
I’ve had the time of my life at BGSU! Among my favorite memories are making life-long friends, spending time at the Rec Center, being an International Student Ambassador for International Student Services, going to many of the athletic events, and of course founding WA1T!

Why did you join WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T)?
I founded WA1T because I wanted to combine my passions for social justice activism and sports. I firmly believe that sport can bring people together and unite individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Favorite part about being involved with WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T)?
Working on WA1T has been the single most rewarding experience about being at BGSU! What I love most about WA1T is working with a diverse group of talented friends who all share my passion for making a positive change through the power of sport.

Favorite BGSU Memory:
Favorite BGSU Memory: I could never pick just one! But, a 24-hour bus ride to Florida with 30 of my best friends and teammates comes close though.

Why did you join WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T)?
I joined WA1T because I think that the vision of bringing people together through sports is so powerful. As an athlete, I know the power of sports and I think it's a great way to fight stereotypes and other issues.

Favorite part about being involved with WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T):
All of the amazing people I have met and the ability to make a difference.

Major / Department:

Class Standing / Position:
Graduate Student (M.Ed.)
Fun Fact:
I just found out couple of weeks ago that I am ambidextrous when playing ping pong. I thought I was right handed but it looks like my left hand is way better than my right hand when playing ping pong or tennis. :)

Favorite BGSU Memory:
In April 2016, we had our first big 5K event with WA1T on campus. For me, it was one of the most special moments I have experienced at BGSU since I first got here in 2010. Watching not only the students but also members of the Bowling Green community coming together to fight for social justice was priceless. The sense of community and care this place has is something we don't see too often.

Why did you join WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T)?
In 2015, when I went to Los Angeles to participate in the Special Olympics World games, I felt the need to be part of something bigger than myself. I wanted to make an impact on people's lives and also bring awareness to the many stereotypes many groups have to go through in not only this country but the entire world. Being a female soccer player in Brazil, I was stereotyped a lot of times because soccer was seen before as a "male" sport (and it still is). By being part of WA1T, I want to fight for causes and create opportunities and safe spaces for stereotyped groups to feel comfortable and be heard.

Favorite part about being involved with WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T):
Being able to bring the BGSU community together to fight for social justice is my favorite part of being involved with WA1T. The friendships we make and all the brainstorming we do together to create ways to impact and empower different groups is the motivating force to be part of WA1T.

Home Town: Bruges, Belgium
Major / Department:

Class Standing / Position:
MBA student
Fun Fact:
I’ve attended four different universities in four different countries (Belgium, China, Russia, and the United States).

Favorite BGSU Memory:
Of all the universities that I’ve attended, BGSU was the first and only university where I felt at home. I have a lot of good memories here but among my favorite are making life-long friends, meeting my girlfriend, training with ROTC, working out at the Rec Center and becoming part of WA1T.

Why did you join WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T)?
One of the life-long friends that I made here at BGSU was Yannick Kluch, he is the founder of WA1T and he’s also the one that introduced me to the WA1T concept. I firmly believe that social injustice is very prevalent in sports and on college campuses and that’s why I decided to join WA1T. Just like Yannick, I also believe that sport can bring people together and unite individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Favorite part about being involved with WE ARE ONE TEAM (WA1T):
Even though I’ve studied in several different countries, BGSU is the only university I classify as my second home; therefore, being able to give back and add value to the BGSU campus/community has been a great and rewarding experience. By being a part of WA1T I’ve had the opportunity to work and connect with different people on and off-campus who all share the same beliefs that social injustice has no place on college campuses and in sports. Together with WA1T, I’ve been able to make a change!
