BGSU Virtual Campus in Second Life

There are a number of different ways to get involved in Second Life and the BGSU Virtual Campus.

• Get an avatar by going to http://www.secondlife.com and click Get Started (its free).
• Join the BGSU Group in Second Life
• Teach or take a class that uses Second Life
• Join the Center for Teaching and Learning's Pedagogy and Scholarship in Second Life Learning Community
• Submit a proposal using the Call for Participation (below)

Call for Participation

The BGSU Virtual Campus in Second Life welcomes proposals from individual faculty and/or students, groups, departments and centers that want to get involved in the BGSU Second Life Campus. Please email a short paragraph to secondlife@bgsu.edu and include the following:

1. Request Type (see below)
2. Short paragraph describing your request
3. Contact information (full name, title: student/faculty or staff, department, email, phone, and include avatar name if you have one)

Request Types:

A. Individual and Group Research Projects

     Space is allocated for a semester and is renewable.

B. Departmental Office

     Space is allocated for an indefinite period based on usage.

C. Classroom Meeting Space

     Shared classrooms can be reserved for specific times and customized classrooms can be constructed for you.

D. Center Offices

     Space is allocated for an indefinite period based on usage.

E. Faculty Offices

     You will be assigned an office in the pre-built faculty offices on the mountain or in the Faculty Center

F. Special Projects

    Space will be allocated specific to space and time requirements.
