What I Do

I teach Engineering Technology and Ph.D. Manufacturing Systems courses, such as Metal Processing [Manual Machining], AutoCAD, Introduction to SolidWorks, Fluid Power [Hydraulics and Pneumatics], CAM and Rapid Prototyping [CNC and Mastercam], Advanced Solid Modeling and Analysis [SolidWorks Analysis Tools and ALGOR FEA], Concurrent Engineering, and Software-based Tools in Manufacturing.

What I Do

As the Aviation Studies Program Coordinator, I collaboratively help to develop the strategic plan, marketing plan and update and revise the Aviation Studies courses and curriculum to meet changing industry standards and technology. I also teach the following courses: AERT 3490 - Aviation Law, AERT 2200 - Private Pilot Ground, AERT 3200 - Commercial Ground, AERT - 4680 Business Aviation, AERT 2150 - Aviation Ground Operations, AERT 3540 - Aviation Management, AERT 4600 - Safety Management Systems and QS 3700 - Quality Systems.

Research Interests

Research interests include: How women are presented in aviation history, researching student civic engagement, aviation radio communication errors, developing applied business aviation training scenarios, and building women faculty.

About Me

I received my pilot license in 1975. My first plane was a 1946 Aeronca Chief, followed by my 1946 Cessna 120, and my 1965 Citabria. Prior Jobs: aircraft maintenance officer in the USAF; technical writer for Grumman Aircraft, simulator instructor for Northrop; & aviation management consultant for airports in GA and TX. Hobbies: paragliding, flying ultralights, bicycling, kiting, snow skiing, writing poetry, ice fishing, scuba diving, videography, and tutoring English to international students.

What I Do

Typical teaching duties include junior and senior courses in the Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) Program. Within this course set are the curriculum's networking and communication courses. As is true with my ECET faculty colleagues, I support the program with teaching assignments, as needed, in freshman and sophomore courses offerings (example: the sophomore Digital Electronics courses). I also teach a Digital Communication graduate course within the Ph.D. Consortium.

What I Do

Typical teaching duties include junior and senior level courses in the Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) program, and graduate level courses in the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering, BGSU, and in Consortium Ph.D., Indiana State University. These courses include instrumentation and process control, electronic devices, electric machinery, artificial intelligence techniques, fieldbus networks. I also support the ECET program with freshman and sophomore level courses teaching. Examples of these courses include renewable energy, electric circuits, and electrical and electronic systems. Other duties include student advising, curriculum development and professional service. I also conduct research in electrical engineering area, and help graduate students in their research projects.

Research interests are in electric power and energy systems, control systems, and digital communication systems areas. Current research work includes application of networked control systems and artificial intelligence techniques. Prior research work included robust control systems and digital protection of power systems.

About Me

I was a Fulbright Research Scholar at the Electrical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India during 2008-09. I worked as a Guest Researcher at the Intelligent Systems Division, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, 2000-01. I was an Assistant Professor at the Pennsylvania State University, 1990-93. I have published/presented 100 articles in journals/books/conferences. I have conducted funded research supported by NIST, US State Department, NSF, OBOR, and others. I have received an outstanding research award from the University of Toledo for my graduate work. I am actively involved in the International Society of Automation (ISA) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and other professional societies. I am a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), and senior member of IEEE and ISA.

What I Do
