The BGeXperience Introduction is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2009.  All incoming freshmen students are required to attend the BGeX Introduction and to be enrolled in one BGeX course for the fall term.

BGSU's unique values program

Bowling Green State University has developed the BG Experience, an innovative academic program required for all first-year students.  Through the BG Experience, students develop relationships that connect them to the BGSU community, and critical thinking and communication skills that prepare them to succeed academically and beyond.

The program begins with an introduction before the actual start of classes, and continues throughout the year.  During the introduction, students participate in lively, interactive, small group sessions that help them learn about the University's expectations.  They are introduced to concepts useful in exploring their values and examine the role values play in decision-making.  Students are encouraged to evaluate, explore and build on their own personal beliefs.

BG Experience classes are offered in a wide array of subject areas - from biology and history to popular culture and art.  Classes are small and are taught by outstanding faculty members.  All BG Experience classes help students fulfill their degree requirements and cover the typical course content.  They also integrate critical thinking about values with course content.

Further opportunities for developing and enriching one's capacity for critical thinking about values are available in upper division courses as well as service learning courses.  Together with Student Life, BG Experience also supports out of classroom programs and works directly with student organizations to provide a wide array of campus-wide opportunities for students to participate in BGSU's commitment to values in action.
