Who are we?
Student Leadership Team

Chair -
Cassie Guion
is a first year senior who believes she can lay claim to one of the most verbose majors on campus. She is a theatre major with a dual specialization in youth theatre/puppetry and acting/directing with a support field in education. She hopes to one day use this degree to teach high school-age theatre classes and direct youth theatre productions. She's been acting since she was six, and some of her earliest theatre experiences came from Christmas pageants at her various churches. The daughter of a Methodist minister, she has been attending the United Methodist Church all her life. While at Bowling Green, she attends First United Methodist where she sings in the Chancel Choir, plays in the Joyful Noise Bell Choir, and leads the Children in Worship Program once a month.

I'm Alissa Hellstrom, and I am a 3rd year student at BGSU.  I am a business major and a dance minor, and I am involved with several organizations on campus such as the University Dance Alliance, University Performing Dancers, Mortar Board, and the United Methodist Student Organization.  I love to dance, watch t.v., and hang out with friends.

May God Bless You! My name is Amber Fessler and I am a sophomore majoring in 7-12 Math Education. In addition to UMSO, I am on the advisory board for PCC (a learning community for prospective teachers), a member of the Honors Program, Honors Learning Community, and a Civic Action Leader (a new program through the Office of Service Learning). I also like to attend Cru activities and mass at St. Toms when I can. I am a member of the Church of the Brethren in Troy, OH and while at college I am learning tons about my faith by really trying to delve deep into what different Christian groups have to offer. I love to make others smile and laugh and I love doing whatever I can to help. As I’m sure you can tell, I stay quite busy. My life has been so blessed by God and I am thankful for the many opportunities he has given me to share his love with others. Don’t ever forget that God loves you, and as you are a child of God, I love you too! Come join us sometime. We love to get to know new people!

Membership Outreach -
Hello everyone! I'm Alicia Booker and I am from Fairfield, OH which is just north of Cincinnati, home if Skyline Chili. I am a sophomore as an Adolescent Young Adult Integrated Social Studies Education major with a minor in History and Political Science. That is my fun way of saying that I am going to teach high school history. I am also a part of the Honors Program, the Bowling Green Student Association and a Peer Facilitator for History 2050 Early America. When I find spare time, I like to read, watch movies, play basketball or softball, go to BG hockey games and chill with my friends. Coming to BG I found UMSO to be the perfect fit for me as a family and I love every minute of it! I look forward to seeing you soon!

Missions/Service -
My name is Lauren Cadwallader. I’m a sophomore majoring in Integrated Language Arts Adolescent Young Adult Education. Whew. I mean I want to teach high school English. What first attracted me to UMSO was how friendly and welcoming everybody was, and how genuinely interested they were in getting to know me past the fleeting “hi, how are you?” stage. Outside of the church, I’m secretary of the Latino Dance Association on campus (free salsa lessons every Sunday!) and am involved in a skit-writing team. I hail from Hilliard, a suburb of Columbus. I’m passionate about mission work, reading, writing, wood-working, and everything outside.

At Large Members -

Matt Guion is a first-year graduate student in the field of music education, who should probably be working on the more professional biography he’s supposed to write for one of his classes, but has elected to write this one instead. Matt was a member of the first UMSO leadership team two years ago. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from BGSU, taught as a substitute and IEP tutor for a year, and has now returned to BG to earn his Master’s degree. In addition to being a student at the university, Matt is also the director of the Joyful Noise Bell Choir at First United Methodist. Despite the schedule that requires him to rush from ARISE meetings after dinner is over, he looks forward to being a part of the leadership team again and getting to know his fellow members of UMSO.

Adam Haynes is a senior at Bowling Green State University and is in the pre-service year for his education degree. Adam currently studies Adolescent/Young Adult Integrated Social Studies. In addition to academics, this year Adam is working with Findlay City Schools at Central Middle School student teaching 8th grade American history. Beyond the classroom, Adam enjoys kayaking down the Ohio Valley rivers and camping with friends and family. This year marks his third year with UMSO, and within the organization; Adam enjoys making connections with new members and engaging in deep, thoughtful conversations about scripture or other worldly affairs. He is a Pisces.

Hi! My name is Amanda Hight, and I am a senior Early Childhood Education major at BGSU. This year I am excited to be student teaching in a first grade classroom! In my free time I like to read, go camping and hiking with friends, and I love to travel and do anything outdoors. Last year I helped plan UMSO’s mission trip to Washington D.C., and I’m excited to have the opportunity this year to help plan our mission trip to Mexico!

Karin Mowery is a senior at BGSU majoring in Business with a specialization in Supply Chain Management. Along with UMSO, she is active in APICS (Association for Operations Management), ISM ( Institute of Supply Management), Mortar Board and she serves on the Greater Findlay Area Chrysalis Board. She grew up in Lima, Ohio where she is a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. In her free time she enjoys working out, spending time with family and friends, participating in mission trips, reading, singing and dancing.
