  About E85
Due to its increasing availability and its compatibility with many existing automobiles and internal combustion engines, E85 ethanol-based fuel has been selected to energize the Grand Prix of Bowling Green. E85 is an eighty-five percent ethanol and fifteen percent gasoline formula defined by the United States Department of Energy. This high percentage of ethanol, which is primarily distilled from corn, allows E85 to be more renewable than traditional petroleum-based fuels. After distillation, the dried distiller's grain can be utilized as food for cattle, which further increases its value.

E85 is also an environmentally friendly fuel. According to the nation Ethanol Vehicle Coalition at www.e85fuel.com:
“E85 has the highest oxygen content of any transportation fuel available today, making it burn cleaner than gasoline. Fewer exhaust emissions result in reduced production of smog and a decline in respiratory illness associated with poor air quality. E85 also reduces greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide, the main contributor to global warming, by as much as 39 to 46 percent compared to gasoline. Sine E85's main ingredient is ethanol, which is
            non-toxic, water-soluble, and biodegradable, E85 is simply a
better fuel for the world around us.”
