The Last Lecture

One of Mortar Board's biggest and most popular programs is the Last Lecture. The Last Lecture Series is an opportunity for a distinguished faculty member to give a lecture as if tomorrow was their last day on earth. They can lecture on any topic of their choice, passing on advice, secrets, information, or whatever they choose. The best known "Last Lecture" is the passionate and moving lecture given by Carnegie Mellon University professor Randy Pausch. Each spring, Mortar Board presents a University instructor with the opportunity to give their version of the "Last Lecture."

The 2009 Last Lecture will take place on March 24th, 2009 at 7:30PM in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Ballroom and will feature Dr. Paul A. Moore - Biology Professor and Director of the University Honors Program.

The title of Dr. Moore's lecture will be "To suck the marrow out of life: Living a life of consequence" and will include elements of critical thinking, his influences, and how to engage life with passion and to live with a purpose.
