State of the Art: The Winter Wheat Symposium
"The Story in All its Forms and Variations"
Bowling Green State University
8 November 2007

In conjunction with the 7th annual Winter Wheat Festival of Writing, Mid-American Review is proud to offer the 2nd annual State of the Art Symposium. The purpose of the symposium is to concentrate on a genre and provide an opportunity to address that genre's unique elements. Our inaugural year, 2006, saw an afternoon devoted to nonfiction. In 2007, we will discuss fiction in all its forms and variations, from short-shorts to novels and everything in between.

We are seeking a variety of voices on a variety of aspects related to the fiction genre. To that end, we are seeking papers addressing any part of the following topics:

"What Happens Next...or Doesn't: Plot in Contemporary Fiction"
"The New Realism: What Passes as Traditional Storytelling"
"State of the Art: The Story in all Its Forms and Variations"

Please submit paper proposals to Karen Babine . Proposals should include a detailed synopsis of your paper. The entire paper is not necessary. Proposals should be no longer than one page and can be submitted as an attachment or in the body of the email. Review of the proposals will begin in April 2007. Deadline is 31 August 2007. Please email with questions.
