Winter Wheat
The Mid-American Review Festival of Writing

Nov. 9 - 12, 2006
Bowling Green State University
Bowling Green, Ohio

Note to everyone who's registered: Read me!

This fall, writers will once again gather on the campus of Bowling Green State University for a chance to write ... and to recharge. Winter Wheat is all about inspiration, and this year's featured readers and presenters should provide an excellent spark. Readers include David Baker, Dan Chaon, Tyehimba Jess, Debra Marquart, and Jean Thompson.

The festival is free, and writers of all levels will be in attendance. Sessions will be offered for beginners--those who are curious about getting started with writing--through professionals, who can get help in areas like polishing their finished work or marketing their manuscripts. There is something for every writer at Winter Wheat.

Winter Wheat Special Events Information

The First Annual State of the Art Symposium
This year's festival features a special "State of the Art" symposium on Thursday afternoon, highlighting unique aspects of a specific genre. This year's topic: "The Essay in All Its Forms and Variations." We will be exploring three different ideas: "The Academic Argument as Art," essential reading in "You Gotta Read This Essay!" and the status of the genre in "State of the Art: The Essay." We are pleased to welcome many varied voices and experiences to this new tradition of Winter Wheat. We hope you'll join us. For more information on panels and presenters, click here.

Bookfair
Winter Wheat features a bookfair with many well-known literary journals and publishers. It's a good way for writers to talk with editors, become more familiar with literary journals and pick up some awesome books and journals; and it's a good opportunity for editors and writers to increase their reader base. If you are a magazine or publisher wanting to register for this year's bookfair, click here.
