UKS Policies

 ..... Your club must be currently registered and you must be active
to obtain under black belt certificates or to test a student.

 ..... UKS schools on foreign soil must comply with all policies. They
may teach in the native tongue, and must issue previously
approved and signed certificates in the native language (English
may be used if appropriate).

 ..... You must be currently registered and you must be active in
order to gain Dan ranks. Failure to register stops your time in
grade.
 

 ..... No one may test to their next Dan rank without the permission
of your instructor of record. If this designation is to change, both
parties must notify headquarters.
 

.... You must be currently registered in order to enjoy UKS privileges not limited to obtaining newsletters, attending clinics, attending black belt classes and voting at meetings.
 

 ..... Requests for under black certificates will be honored within
one week of that written paid request.

 ..... A list of all students, their rank and testing date must be
fowarded to certification headquarters within one week of their
testing.
 

 ..... No student may test to black belt without proper certification
on file at certification headquarters.

 ..... Black belt testing boards will consist of Mr. Nicholson, and at
least 2 but no more than 6 other high ranking black belts.
 

 RESPONSIBILITY :

PAYMENT OF $20.00 YEARLY MEMBERSHIP DUES
ATTENDING 12 OUT OF 12 MONTHLY BLACK BELT CLASSES
INSTRUCTORS- ATTEND TWO 2 HOUR CLASSES A YEAR IN ADDITION TO THE 12 ALREADY REQUIRED. POSSIBLY SCHEDULED BEFORE REGULAR BLACK BELT CLASSES

VOTE ON ALL MATTERS FOR ALL RANKS
SIGN CERTIFICATES

RECEIVE CURRENT UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION, REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES
RECEIVE NEW KNOWLEDGE

CLARIFICATION:

The 12 classes are counted from the most current class back 12.
Upon the 3rd non-made up absence you are considered inactive and all
privileges but voting on kyu matters are suspended.
You may have one unexcused absence out of 12.

REACTIVATION:

Short term: make up the class.
Long term: to regain testing privileges-full testing time minus any  previously active time  to regain all other privileges-3 consecutive classes

LONG DISTANCE:

If you are further away than between a one and three hour's drive, you must attend 6 out of 12 classes.  Further than that must be discussed with the Board.

MAKE-UPS:

How and when you make up a class is determined by you and the Board.
The Ohio Regional Board has 5 members and 2 alternates. There will always be a voting quorum at each Black Belt class.
The Board appreciates knowing when a Black Belt will be absent. Please take the time to give a member of the Board a cal1.
Classes can be made up in advance of an absence with the previous approval of the Board,
Classes can only be made up by advance approval of the Board. Something you have already done does not qualify.
Classes can be made up in a variety of ways not limited to demo's clinics, special classes, tournaments etc.
If you teach at BGSU once a week al I ye or you areal I owed, on extra unexcused absence.

Green and above only: 5 wins, 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th (If one word is given out) block pants and

BLACK BELTS
all white., all black, white top/block pants. black top/White pants (3rd degree and above
only), red trim 1 /2 to 3/4 Inch wide on sleeves and cuffs.

  AKA patch under seem of  left sleeve

T-SHIRTS
Plain, White t-shirts are considered standard under uniforms for all women and the men who

 Deviations from this may be Considered foreign school use only by head instructors of
  individual schools
 
HEAD BANDS-OPTIONAL
Head bands are allowed with a formal uniform, Plain white Is considered standard for all formal occasions. Individual schools must deviate from this as the head instructor sees fit for in school use
 
BELTS
TABS- yellow stripe
7TH, 5TH, 3RD, 2ND, 1 ST GRADE-block stripe
DECIDED-red stripe no larger than 1/2 the size of the block stripe
OPT IONAL-an additional UKS Board approved stripe for mid rank for juniors.
BLACK-red embrodered stripe, I Inch from the bottom of the belt, 114 Inch wide, 1/2 Inch apart.
