What is Dance Marathon?
The Bowling Green State University Dance Marathon Steering Committee, in conjunction with Children's Miracle Network, will be sponsoring the Eleventh Annual BGSU Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon at the Student Recreation Center.
The mission of the BGSU Dance Marathon is to hold a 32-hour fundraising event that benefits the Mercy Children's Hospital. The funds raised will provide research, treatment, equipment and education to children from Northwest Ohio who suffer from terminal illnesses, serious disease, birth defects and severe trauma. Many organizations participate and commit themselves to saving the lives of children through sponsoring dancers and donating services throughout the year.
Dance Marathon's Goals:
• To raise money and awareness for children treated by children's hospitals.
• To build a legacy of community involvement and caring at the universitiesthroughout the country.
• To teach students to run a business with real world challenges and experiences.
• To promote a positive image for college students through the Children's Miracle Network relationships and media network
Why should I get involved?
Since Dance Marathon is completely student-run, you can provide a service to the community while at the same time sharpening your professional skills. You will be able to meet the children who benefit from your hard work. Participant organizations are matched up with miracle families - families with children who are patients at children's hospitals, who will help you understand the impact of your donation of time and funds.
About the Childrens Miracle Network
The Children's Miracle Network generates funds and creates awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals. Since 1983, the Children's Miracle Network have generated more than three-quarters of a billion dollars for children.
Children's Miracle Network hospitals pride themselves on providing primary care for all children, regardless of ailment or ability to pay. Funds raised by Children's Miracle Network benefit children who suffer from the following illnesses: Muscular Dystrophy, Abuse, Birth Defects, Serious Burns, Abuse, Cystic Fibrosis, Accidents, AIDS and Cancer.
