Overview
CSSA is an organization for all the current students, visiting
scholars, and faculty who identify themselves as Chinese at Bowling
Green State University (BGSU).
Ever since its creation in 1987, CSSA has been actively and
devotedly serving both the Chinese community at Bowling Green and
the Bowling Green community as well.
Now with about 120 members, it is one of the largest international
student organizations on BGSU campus. It has its own advisor, who is
invited by the CSSA to supervise its work, and its own officers, who
are elected on a yearly basis to take charge of the different aspect
of CSSA.
Mission
CSSA aspires to
be a home for Chinese students and scholars as well as an
organization that promotes understanding of China, Chinese people,
and Chinese culture.
Its goals are :

to serve as mentors

to help newcomers adjust to American culture

to enrich Chinese students' US college experience

to introduce Chinese culture to the Bowling Green community
-
to promote cultural exchange, friendship, and understanding
among people with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Election Procedure
-
At the beginning of each school year, CSSA sends out
annoucement on China listproc, telling the time and place
for the election and encouraging its members to run for the
officers.

Any member who is interested can fill in an application form
available on the web and send it to the current CSSA
president

Around mid-September, an election meeting is held, usually
at the City Park of Bowling Green.It is also a picnic both
to welcome new members and elect new officers)

All candidates makes a speech on what they run for, why they
run for and what they will do to improve the CSSA service.

Members vote by secret ballots.

The votes are counted and the results are announced right
after the counting.
