Called Them Public Enemy Number One.  Based on the book written by veteran actor/director Mario Van Peebles, this haunting, true-to-life film tells the story of the Black Panthers for Self Defense, an armed political movement formed by two young militants, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, in the ghettos of Oakland, California in 1966. Directed by Mario Van Peebles.

Detroit History Trip

A trip to the Charles H. Wright African-American History Museum and the Motown Historical Museum in Detroit, Michigan.  The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is the world's largest institution dedicated to the African American experience. The Museum provides exhibitions and programs that explore the diversity of African American history and culture and houses over 30,000 artifacts.  The Motown Historical Museum (Hitsville, USA) exhibits trace the roots of Motown’s remarkable story and chronicle its impact on 20th century popular culture and musical styles.
