Cosplay Skit Competition:

The cosplay competition is for skits of any kind; this includes comedies, tragedies, song skits, etc. Anything is allowed as long as it follows the rules listed below.
  1. All skits Must be PG-13! This means that no swearing except “hell”, “damn”, or any other words deemed acceptable by the cosplay heads during screening. Also, any kind of gratuitous make-out scenes are not permitted; straight or gay, none are allowed. Simply ask yourself if you think what you want to do is appropriate for 10 year olds, and if it isn’t then don’t do it.

  2. Every skit will be screened prior to the competition. In order to pre-register for the cosplay skits, a script including stage movements must be emailed (as an attachment) to either ccoates@bgsu.edu or aesara@bgsu.edu . Please be sure to include the information requested below in both the email and in the attachment, as sending in the skit pre-registers you for the competition. Once you have submitted the script, all that you (the competitor) will have to do the day of Animarathon, is pick up your skit number and call time from the cosplay/masquerade table by noon. If you do not pick up your badge or send an email telling the MC's you will be late, you will be disqualified from the competition.

  3. If you do not send a script and decide to register the day of the convention, the spots will be on a first come first serve basis. There will only be a limited number of spots open for skits, and all skits must be screened and approved prior to the competition. You will need to provide a paper script at the cosplay table or perform the skit in front of the MCs in advance.

  4. All skits will be screened. If you email your skits a head of time, the MCs will let you know if there are any issues regarding the content prior the competition. If any skit is seen to have material deemed against the new regulations, the skit will be disqualified. -The MCs want to stress that Animarathon is a family friendly convention that will have families with younger children in attendance. Animarathon wishes to promote anime as a healthy, friendly experience for not only young adults and college students, but people of all ages. For this reason, please adhere closely to the new policies.

  5. If you have any questions please feel free to email either ccoates@bgsu.edu or aesara@bgsu.edu .

Information to include with your emailed script:

During the set-up and actual cosplay competition/costume parade, all competitors will be expected to follow the instructions of the MCs, judges, or other staff members in charge.
