What is Collegiate 4-H? |

National Collegiate 4-H · Collegiate 4-H began in 1916 at Oklahoma State University for students who enjoyed 4-H and wanted to continue involvement college. · The organization became officially recognized as National Collegiate 4-H in 1971. · The symbol of National Collegiate 4-H is the 4-H clover capped by a Mortar Board to represent graduation from 4-H program into higher learning. · For more information about the National Collegiate 4-H Program, visit www.collegiate4h.org. BGSU Collegiate 4-H · Collegiate 4-H at Bowling Green State University previously existed during the 1970s until 1984 and from 1993-2000 before starting from scratch again in the Fall of 2005. · In 1994, the BGSU chapter was named “New Club of the Year” at the National Collegiate 4-H Conference at the Ohio State University for quickly becoming the largest Collegiate 4-H club in the United States. · Most members were previously involved in 4-H, several are exploring the world of 4-H because they want to serve the Bowling Green community and learn about the unique opportunities offered by 4-H.
The mission of the BGSU Collegiate 4-H club, as adopted in March 2005, is as follows:
As a member of the Bowling Green State University campus community, the Bowling Green State University Collegiate 4-H Club will strive to uphold the core values of the institution: respect for one another, cooperation, intellectual and spiritual growth, creative imaginings and pride in a job well done.
The purpose of this organization shall be: · To provide service to the city of Bowling Green, the BGSU campus and surrounding county 4-H programs. · To extend possible 4-H involvement beyond the youth organization, serving both 4-H alumni and those without 4-H experience. · To promote 4-H as an organization, seeking to maintain and increase interest in county, state and national opportunities for the development of America’s youth. · To uphold the standards of the 4-H organization, striving to develop today’s young adults into tomorrow’s leaders. · To provide opportunities for social, intellectual and leadership development to the students of BGSU.
